Kindergarten

A fundamental aspect of the Kindergarten curriculum is building literacy, math  and science discovery skills that will enable children to establish a firm foundation to learn throughout their school years. This is accomplished through center-based learning stations, Circle Time, and direct instruction. In addition to these, they learn about the world around them in Social Studies and Jesus' love for them in Religion class. Faith Formation is an integral part of the school experience with participation in the many school events that reinforce the faith life of the students such as Mass attendance, Eucharistic Procession, Special Prayer Services and Activities. Students also attend special classes in Music, Library, PE, Technology, and Spanish each week.

Early Childhood Curriculum

What you need to know!

Pre-K3

The Pre-K3 classroom is designed around the ability of the child to discover the world around them through play and guided instruction. Our center-based approach allows the child to imitate life through play in the kitchen, grocery, dress up, building, reading, writing, art, puzzles, transportation, and play-doh centers. The Creative Curriculum program utilizes circle time, read aloud time, song,  and dance  to learn background knowlege that will be used in future years. Concepts are taught to keep pace with new research. Teachers help to encourage children to make and test hypotheses, develop skills for using technology, explore their world and the people in it, and engage their creative thinking skills. The units are hands-on studies that are relevant to children’s daily lives and help every child explore, investigate and learn. A diverse collection of fiction and nonfiction children’s books promote children’s language and literacy learning, and social–emotional development during read-alouds.

In addition to their classroom curriculum, Pre-K3 participates in other special learning activities such as Music Class, Spanish Class, PE Class, Library, and Technology Class where they use iPads. Pre-K3 enjoys several free-time play on the playground and in the classroom throughout the day.  Click on the books or logos below to learn more about the curriculum.

Pre-K4/VPK

A Florida constitutional amendment created a program designed to prepare four-year-olds for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success. The program allows a parent to enroll his or her eligible child (four years old by September 1 and residing in Florida) in a free VPK program. St. Paul Catholic School is a provider for the VPK program, allowing students to benefit from free state-supported education in the mornings.

The Pre-K4/VPK classroom is designed around the ability of the child to discover the world around them through play and guided instruction. Our center-based approach allows the child to imitate life through play in the kitchen, grocery, dress up, building, reading, writing, art, puzzles, transportation, and play-doh centers. STEMscopes is an approved Curriculum for the Florida VPK program and offers a hands-on approach to build skills in critical thinking accross the subject areas.
